Ruined New Compressor?

1992 Buick - I could not rotate the new compressor by hand - too tight - so I installed it and jumpered the low pressure cutoff switch for about 5 seconds - it came on just fine. I took out the pin - it went off- and then did it again for another second - came on. I tried to do it a 3rd time but it will not do anything now - no rotation of the clutch.

I had put 2 oz. of oil in the compressor prior to installing it. I checked the fuse for the A/C and it is fine. I can rotate the clutch by hand now.

Is there a way that I can check if the compressor is ruined?
