The UK plan to kill 134a is almost 20 years old. The Climate Change Levy, announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in March 1999, came into force in April 2001mistercool wrote:They can't run it out of existence when it is still so commonplace though. There are plenty of vehicles which are only a few years old using it and what are we supposed to use when the condenser fails and needs replacing? As Hecat just documented above, they want to run 134a out of existence.
It feels like they are trying to run me out of business!
I have heard that most of the stationary refrigeration in the UK is already running on Hydrocarbon Refrigerants - things like freezer cases in markets, etc.
As for putting you out of business? That is a goal of sorts too. They want the personal automobile gone alltogether. What do you think the London Congestion Charge is all about?
