By 1990 most compressors except 2 cylinder York recip and A6 had dual lip seals (one for vacuum and one for positive pressure)
lip seals should not seep oil because oil causes clutch slip
modern lip seals have a spiral groove to return tiney amount of seeped oil back into compressor
electronic leak detector should not alarm at 0.1 oz/year at shaft seal

Re: Need AC advice for 2000 Silverado
Unfortunately.....straight outside under the godforsaken blazing sun. The truck is both too tall and too long to get in a garage, or at least the garage I have. If I take it down town there are also a couple of garages too short for me to fit into. The one at work I just hit the height bar, so I have to park it outside when I bring it. Fortunately for me I have another ride that is more garage friendly.Cusser wrote:Where do you park this? It's been 110F or more in the shade for over 10 days, so hot like 130F in a closed garage and hotter than 110F under a carport. That's awfully hot.
