bond007 wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 12:12 pm Face palm. No sooner do I reply and I somehow stumbled upon a potential tool…

(Link removed.)
please describe in some way for us to find it. I've also ben looking for something like this.
You will need to be triggered by someone else, as I did not remove the link! I get triggered by certain people as well.

I don't think a single image of a tool would have been removed; certain links, yes. People can Google shop on their own time and platform! I think we have told you this many times. Repeatedly asking will not change the outcome of the response. If you feel this restriction voids the information you glean from the site, I think as vast as the internet is, someone has to have a site that fits in better with your feelings of how it should be run.

PS: There is no need to run me down in a post. You have already done that in the past. And since I'm recovering from spine surgery. My delete finger is less tolerable.
This wasn't directed at you Tim. I wasn't triggered. (and I saw that JohnHere edited that post)

I'm just looking for a way to find this possible solution so a description would be helpful

In the OPs prior post that mentioned the manufacturer and model number of the MasterCool tool I was able to look it up....and also wish it worked on 6,8,10 pipe, but it doesn't.

The brazing can work but it doesn't look as good as non-brazed pipe and it can introduce a failure point at the braze.

bond007, please keep up the research, you've done a lot of it already and it would be great to see what you came up with.

If we find a suitable tool, I would be willing to buy it and loan it out for folk's projects (we'd figure out the details)

edit - and Tim, best wishes recovering from your spine surgery. I broke my back as a kid and was laid up for months and that wasn't much compared to what you likely went through so best wishes.

Mods:
I appreciate the resource that this forum is and the knowledge and support from the moderators and members. Another thread on here about the same car and a similar problem is what prompted me to join and try to contribute and maybe "up the game" of us DIY folks to something beyond using rubber and crimped ends for everything when the OEMs use them sparingly.

I own a business myself (not operating at present, thanks to COVID and the landlord terminating my lease) and I get the conflict of interest you are trying to protect with your policy. I did not think that something you don't (and probably would not be able to effectively sell/re-sell) would be a conflict.

Returning to the technical issue and subsequent research:
From my experience with my bead forming tools (which handle large diameters), I knew the resulting bead they produce is NOT the same as an AC line. I agree with the replies of the mods who did see that link, where that tool is not going to work. I was just trying to confirm the one actual suggestion of a potential tool is the same thing that I was thinking of (which most likely won't work) and they were not thinking of a different tool.

Proper mating of a fitting and line when welded or brazed with the proper equipment will be a fine option. We used a product I posted a link to for years and years. We made hoses daily with the alum rod and oxy-acetylene torch.

That is proven technique.

and it would be SO COOL to be able to make custom tubes!!!!

I'd love to make a variation of this. Sometimes the close/tight bends are hard to duplicate with braze-on fittings. None of the coldhose available braze-on fittings could make this.

Would still love to find an Oring tool like the OP has been researching.
