A/C Compressor locking up

I have a '77 Corvette and about 500 miles ago, I replaced the A/C hose and resealed the dryer (VIR). We also flushed and vacuumed out the system. It worked great till yesterday, when I was driving and the compressor locked up. Is it just a coincidence, that the compressor went. Or is there something else wrong..

If you did not get all of the flushing agent out of the system. It could have broken down the oil and caused a failure.

So you flushed: was the correct amount of refrigeration oil then added ?

Most probably it has happened because you didn't change the condenser as a whole and just replaced the dryer and then replaced the compressor. Since when a compressor locks up it pumps out the metal pieces into the condenser which in your case because of the old condenser might be still stuck in the condenser and that probably again locked up your compressor.

Are you using R-12 or converted to R-134a? Did you use the correct type of oil for the refrigerant?
