Bottle Opener has diameter 1/2", bottle 1/4

I purchased a hose with gauge on eBay. The hose has bottle opener with diameter 1/2", same as it looks like all being offered there and on Amazon - here's an example:
http://r.ebay.com/zvEAc0 . However, it looks like all the bottles in the local Home Depot and in Menards have smaller diameter of the thread, 1/4". Wondering, why this problem, and what to do.

Don't use ANY of those !!! AC work is much more involved than those TV commercials lead !!! And even worse if such products contain a sealer/sealant, you could damage your system permanently !!!
