Expansion block replacement

I'm replacing the compressor, condenser, dryer and flushing the lines in a 2011 Toyota Sienna. This is a dual a/c system with front and rear expansion valves. They're deep, one behind glove box and one in the rear panel. The old refrigerant smells burned. As deep as the EV's are, it makes the job a PIA. If I flush just the lines while leaving the EV's alone, as they cannot be flushed, am I asking for it? I wouldn't be able to flush the evaporators since the EV's are in the way. Hate to do the job twice by cutting corners but the Toyota parts guy said he never gets EV's for the service dept. Don't know what to make of it. Any help on this would be great.
