05 civic ac problem
So when i turn on my ac it works for 5 to 10 mins then blows hot air. Ive heard it could be a cycle switch or thermal protector but i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before. Any help would be great so i dont melt this summer lol
Re: 05 civic ac problem
First thing to do is familiarize yourself as to what the compressor looks like when it's working fine: the center part will turn by the belt, not just the outside pulley. This is called engaging of the AC compressor clutch, works by magnetism.
Then - when the AC starts blowing hot air, pull over and leave everything on, and see if that center part of the AC clutch is still turning or not. If not, that means that the AC clutch is slipping/not engaging, could be as simple as needing an "air gap adjustment". So start by doing that test.
At this point, we assume that the volume of air out the vents is same as when cold, and from same vent locations, right?
