Hi all, new member from Australia here.
Hoping someone may have experienced this problem.
My 2018 Impreza's airconditioner turns off when it reaches temperature but will not turn on again until car is turned off and cooled down.
The compressor clutch is not receiving power once it turns off.
I have spoken with many technical people but no one has experienced this issue.
We have regassed the system, checked clutch clearance and replaced the a/c relay.
A/c works perfectly until it turns the compressor off.
Something is preventing the signal to switch the compressor back on.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Mark.
PS I almost purchased a used controller to either fix or eliminate (the unit containing the controls and the ecu but discovered mine is a dual zone and all the s/h units were single. Mine is 72311FL301 and the units for sale were 72311FL311

Re: Airconditioner turns off but will not restart.
A couple of compressors are available for the 2018 Impreza, at least on cars made for the USA market: One for Manual A/C (scroll compressor, fixed displacement, with a clutch), and another for Automatic Temperature Control (piston compressor, direct drive, no clutch, variable displacement, with an electronic control valve).
You said you checked the clutch gap, so might it have Manual A/C (no "Auto" appearing anywhere on the controls)?
