Why would R134a can fitting valve NOT work?

I have a new manifold, 1st use, the low side R134a can fitting won't allow gas to pass through.
Anyone know why?

I can put the fitting on the can, turn inward to open the valve, but nothing comes out.
Is it a bad fitting?
Will gas only escape with suction of the low side?
I took the yellow tube/line off with only the valve attached, but nothing come out at all.
(Can't show a picture because the file is too large!!!)

I hook it up to add freon, but noting passes over the view-port when all low side valves are open, nothing, no mater where the can valve is set (from closed to completely open).

Is this an instance where an older R134a can tap doesn't work on the newer "self sealing" R134a cans? I've read to
...buy an inexpensive adapter that goes on the can
...turn the existing valve all the way down, then to back off just a little
...use a can side tap
...buy a new style R134a can tap

This can tap fitting is only a few months old, it came with a manifold KIT.

I have turn all the way down, then back up, no gas coming out.
This is suppose to be a "New Style R134a can tap fitting".

This question comes up all the time. The new self sealing cans do not work well at *all*.
The pros here use a side tapping tool and we do not tap using the poorly designed gizmo on the top of the can. You can get such a side tapper here from the board owner, Tim.

Double-check for the obvious: Does the can actually contain any refrigerant?
