We U. S. citizens celebrate The Fourth of July—Independence Day—tomorrow.
July 4th has been a Federal holiday since 1941, but the tradition of the day started during the 18th Century with the American Revolution.
On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence from Great Britain. Delegates from the 13 original colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence two days later, a historic document that Thomas Jefferson drafted. From 1776 until the present, we celebrate July 4th as the Birth of American Independence.
Happy Independence Day to all.
