I have a 2009 Honda Civic. The AC is not blowing cold air.

I ran a climate control diagnostic and got code #4 An open or short in the mode control motor circuit

Can anyone provide me with step by step directions on how to fix this?

Since the A/C Self Diagnostic indicates a Code #4 (open or short), the problem might be as simple as a bad A/C relay or a blown fuse. IIRC, both are under the hood in a panel on the driver's side, and they can be checked for continuity with a multimeter.

I don't have an electrical diagram or a listing of Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) for your particular Honda. If you want to DIY, consider purchasing a short-term subscription to either AllData or Mitchell's, which will have all of the factory information that Honda technicians use for diagnosis and repair. Otherwise, you'll probably have to take your car to an independent Honda specialist or to a dealer to get to the bottom of this.
