Brand new AC compressor defective?

Hi,

I have a 2011 Subaru Forester and I recently replaced the AC compressor due to a worn out ac clutch.
The AC always worked well, so I only replaced the compressor.
Now the compressor is making a constant noise when in use. No noise when the AC is off.

Here is a link to video.

Please let me know if this is defective, installed incorrectly or other?

Thanks!

There is no way anyone can tell if you installed it incorrectly, as you have not provided any details on the repair process. Others may ask the specific questions needed. If you know them and did them, you can post that information. I've learned over the years if I ask, did you do this? The answer is always yes.

I'll ask one question. Where did you buy the compressor from?

Bought from AUTODOC of Germany. Made by Valeo.

Also, used enviro safe e134 replacement gas and the can size was equal to the minimum fill amount of 16oz and my plan was to top off next spring.

Everything functions as it should.

Is this noise of concern?

Thanks Tim!

Enviro Safe is an alternative refrigerant comprising a mixture of propane and isobutane--very dangerous stuff. This Forum doesn't advocate the use of such refrigerants that aren't US-EPA approved. See #3 under "Forum rules."

I regret that I can't advise you further.

I agree with what John said—no experience with the refrigerant you used. Noise like yours tends to be an oil or refrigerant-related issue. Highly doubt a new Valeo is dead out of the box.
