pag oil

I got about 4oz of pag 46 left in a small bottle
its been sitting out for a while now
is it good to put into the system or do i need to use a fresh sealed bottle

It absorbs moisture.

so i guess the same goes for vacuum pump oil?

Not to the same degree, but it does absorb the moisture in the system you are pumping down.
I do not worry about the QT bottle of vac pump oil I have on the shelf, even if I used some and then re-capped it (never leave the caps off!)
But to achieve a good vac you should change the vac pump oil periodically. It does make a difference. There are HVAC (residential and commercial) that will change the vac pump oil out each time they use it, but they are dealing with a much larger capacity system
