I have limited HVAC experience and just a novice home mechanic.

As I stated in that post he said there is no need for other parts besides the compressor. Most info I've read online says opening the system it's best to replace drier/accumulator.

I haven't had the time to get a second opinion from an HVAC specialist yet. Just thinking ahead if another shop confirms the compressor seal(s) is the issue.

Also, would a failed body control module have any effect on the HVAC system? My car's BCM needs replacement and programmed to fix the door locks. I purchased a refurbished BCM and will get it programmed this week or the following one.

This is indeed true.

Why have you started a new thread? Things are gonna get confusing.
You won't always get a quick response here because these experts all volunteer their time, and with summer going full tilt, they are quite busy. So you have to be patient

The remaining questions you have asked in the original thread are above my pay grade which is why I have been silent.

All I recall right now is that you were gonna get a second opinion about the fact that you have a leak from a different shop that uses a sniffer. Your original mechanic supposedly used a sniffer.....perhaps. We felt the comp was being condemned prematurely

In fact I think we already answered your ?replace drier question before.

One reason the dialogue can take a while is because posters feed us the info slowly.
Posters should use a bullet list of their issues, readings, measurements, and such. This forces them to organize their thoughts
For example it shouldn't take 3 or 4 posts to determine what size and placement of the fittings are on a condenser as we are seeing in another thread. Give us all the info at once, including a pic, that way the experts can hone in on advice quickly without asking a lot of little questions over time
