new compressor install always require a new drier and accumulator?

I have limited HVAC experience and just a novice home mechanic.
My car's compressor may need replacing per the mechanic I brought it to. link https://www.autoacforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14064
As I stated in that post he said there is no need for other parts besides the compressor. Most info I've read online says opening the system it's best to replace drier/accumulator.
I haven't had the time to get a second opinion from an HVAC specialist yet. Just thinking ahead if another shop confirms the compressor seal(s) is the issue.
Also, would a failed body control module have any effect on the HVAC system? My car's BCM needs replacement and programmed to fix the door locks. I purchased a refurbished BCM and will get it programmed this week or the following one.
