Failed compressor valves allow rapid high to low side equalization reverse gas flow carrying contamination through the compressor itself into the suction line, rather than through the normal forward expansion device flow. Compressor exchange without suction side flushing can result in multiple compressor replacements. Suction side filters are available but do not filter the fines.
