That's certainly not what I wanted to read, but it is what it is. I'll call you soon, Tim. Thanks

That's what I get from the information. Wait and see if any others have other options to look at.

Biggest problem I've seen with dual systems is having two orifice tubes installed-- Those condensers all come with an OT in the outlet- yet a dual system has it's OT just beyond the split in the liquid line to the rear. So make sure you don't have an OT in the condenser outlet- and you do have one in the line to the front evap just beyond the "Y" to rear.

@GMTech, thank you; there was an OT in the condenser output.
Is that OT, combined with the other OT and TXV enough to raise the head pressure to shut off compressor?
I inspected the OT in the condenser and other than oil, it's clean. This makes me wonder if what I thought was shmootz on the required OT was also just oil (my eyes aren't so great and when it's really hot, my glasses tend to slide off my face from the sweat).
Going to post pics here if I can figure out how.

Make them 600 x 600. You can use the attachment tab below when creating a post or email, text them to me, and I'll post them for you.

Thank you, Tim.
Though a little blurry, the OT appears to be OK. With the other OT removed, do you think the system will operate correctly now? In other words, do you think two OT's and a TXV were enough to cause the high head pressure?
Thank you to Tim, and everyone else who replied.

This is why we have many experts like GM Tech. I would get it back together with a single (condenser) OT and the rear valve and see what happens.
Looking at this image, it reminded me of what he mentioned. Had this happened in the shop way back when!
