I actually have both the pointed and flat ended taps.................... I used the pointed one with the blue adapter and it didn't work. I also used the flat tap directly into the new cans

Had a ground issue. Bracket for compressor and alternator is powder coated
Alternator was fine because one of the mounting bolts goes directly into the engine block
Compressor needed a jumper to ground. I mounted the compressor so long ago I forgot all about it
I couldn’t get the Freon to load….. because the compressor wasn’t turning on. Once the system took on enough Freon to match the pressure in the can the Freon wouldn’t flow without the compressor sucking it in.
Still those new cans require a little adjusting to get the Freon to flow. I think the side puncture tap as recommended above might be a better way to go

I have a side tap that I can use. So far I haven't had to purchase any new-type R134a cans.

Just for the record... I did not resort to liquid charging. Once I found a manifold gauge set that worked and a side tap can adapter, gas charging worked as advertised.tbirdtbird wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 11:13 am You use vapor to charge to the low side.
