‘I was getting 200 psi at an idle on a 94F day, 92F measured at the bumper. For some reason my gauges weren't reading the low side properly so I couldn't get a reading unless I was pushing down on the connector. It was hanging out in the 30-40 psi range.‘
Needing to push down on the connectors is a common problem with the less expensive couplers, unfortunately

Okay...I thought it was a stand-alone R/D instead of being attached to the condenser, as yours is.somedude01 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2024 10:07 am JohnHere wrote: When you replaced the evaporator and installed the new Denso TXV, the system was again opened to the atmosphere. Did you replace the receiver/dryer at that time?
No. It was taped off while I did the work. I wasn't going to do another new condenser since it's integrated and basically new.
Note for next time: A relatively inexpensive renewal kit is available for your style of R/D. The kit contains the desiccant beads pre-sealed inside a fiber bag, o-rings, and end plug, saving the expense of replacing a perfectly good condenser all over again.
In addition, professional-style service port adapters are available to replace the adapters attached to your Manifold Gauge Set hoses.
Lastly, I'm glad to learn that the A/C system in your car is performing well again.
