Sorry we hijacked your thread David.
A friend of mine is building a 1959 Chevrolet station wagon, and he is doing just what you are - adding an original knee-knocker.
I am trying to convince him to put an evaporator in the back too. We are stumped on exactly what that should be however.

I have thought about the same thing maybe I need to look at a 80s suburban and see how those rear ACs are mounted.. I think it would be hard to mount one back there though. I had thought about using a clear shower curtain and running it across the backseat on a station wagon.

Hey Ice-n-Tropics - did you work for JEM Co. in 1960? My dad invented the Mark IV and I am trying to get as much info and memorabilia as I can find. You mentioned a museum of Mark IV AC stuff. May I ask where that is or how I can find info on it? Thanks so much

Hope you were able to contact Milt Jones sons in Harlingen TX (Jones Auto Supply). Inventors who helped Mark IV That I worked for were Anderson, Oleson, and Pecorni (from tecumseh) and Hazzard. Another (outside JEMCO) inventor I worked for was Bob Bandeen (who wrote Mobil AC History) who had daughters, one named Marcia.

Good evening all,
Sorry to hijack the thread, I don't actually have anything to add, I have never worked with a Mark IV myself however the VASA (comparable to MACS) here down under is currently writing an AC History book, which isn't out yet however in its preview it has multiple references to the Mark IV unit, albiet much later production than the units pictured here.
