1998 Chevy Astro Van 4.3

My a/c blows cold, but the air doesn't reach the rear of the vehicle. Is there any retrofit/mods that can be done to boost the a/c performance.
A mechanic told me I'm basically stuck with what I have that my year vehicle all have had sucky a/c systems.
I am really contemplating a roof-top unit or an inverter for a house portable a/c unit.
Ugh.

I had a 1998 Astro van with front and rear evaporators that you could hang meat in it. I have a set of the factory manuals on this vehicle if you're interested. They are in super clean condition. They have all wiring, unit repair, etc Email d k t v at aol. com
