Upgrade from H6 to ??

Post by jeepsj »

Vehicle is my 1987 Chevy R30, CC, Dually, 454. Last year after having issues, I replaced everything in the system - compressor, condenser, evaporator, receiver/dryer and all hoses. Converted to R134. It worked great in the AZ heat and cruising on the freeway I could get the cab uncomfortably cold when it was 110+ outside.

Sometime over the winter the H6 decided to leak at the center seal, which I'm reading is not uncommon. I don't want to be doing this every year, so I want a compressor that is going to last at least a few years. Is there anything that dimensionally similar to the H6? I don't care if I have to do custom lines, I'm just not looking to fab any custom mounts for a compressor.

What do you all suggest?

Would this compressor mount work on your vehicle. If so you can change out the compressor and have some custom lines made.

That just might work!! I'll need to verify, but I think my stock compressor mounts are independent of everything else.

Do you have a link to that in the store? I'd love to convert to a Sanden.

This will give me an excuse to replace my line crimp set that got stolen.
