Hi
I have a 72 DeVile 472 engine. Harrison A6 compressor. 2 fan belts.
Has R12 and is holding freon.
Like to keep it stock or at best close to looking like stock.
Compressor is bolted on top of the intake manifold.
Thinking of putting a electric fuel pump (in tank) and upgrading carburetor.
I want to put an edelbrock intake manifold.
The new manifold does not come with anyway to bolt on compressor.
Think I can put in a HR-6 where the air pump is. Will have to make a bracket.
It looked maybe best option. Hoses coming out back, with ears would give me a pivot.
The condensor I wanted to keep. Maybe I will put a electric fan if I can not get enough cooling. I will take evaporator and condensor out and flush it.
I will have to get a new receiver/drier. The new one made that car can I use it with 134a?
Think I need to get rid of POA and expansion valve.
People I used to work for we made up A/C hoses. We used to get it in large rolls.
They had non-crimped fittings available. I think they would leak.
Anyone good at making up hoses and putting an orifice tube?
Anyone I can call that makes up custom crimped hoses?
Thank you

Re: 72 DeVile retrofit
Keep the POA and expansion valve set up. All driers made now can handle r134a. I personally would keep it R12 also.

Thank you
Yes, I agree.
When they required a license to get R12, I took test.
The guy I bought car from tried to put 134a into it.
He bought the adapters that screw over the R12 port.
He stripped the high side.
I had R12 so I put some in and got it down to about 34-36.
Held for several yrs.
On a 40+ yr old system. It is starting to leak.
I think I am going to drop in the edelbrock Intake.
It does not have compressor mounting holes.
Thank you
