Thanks.

Tim wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 11:42 am Back when we had the shop and got a fitting like that. I would place a spacer on the end and use a cutting wheel to remove a little of the end. Take off my spacer, used to cut straight and depth. Clean up the end, and always seemed to work out okay.
I do have a cutting wheel now.

I actually checked the factory service manuals for both 1998 and 2004 Frontiers. Same #12 O-ring (10.9mm i.d., 2.43mm width) for high side fittings on both and at the high side connection to the condenser. But for low side connection to compressor (leaking on my 2004), the 1998 takes #16 O-ring (13.6mm i.d., 2.43mm width) where the 2004 uses a #19 O-ring (16.5mm i.d., 2.43mm width). Strange because both use the same compressor.

Running off to PT. But just got off the phone with NV, and they are checking.

For whatever it's worth, looking up the Nissan part numbers provided in the service manual on the Nissan sites shows that it won't fit, and "search for parts that fit" comes up with the #8 O-ring...so weird, and Nissan is always replacing part numbers with new ones:
Apparently #92472-N8210 has been replaced by #92472-N823A
Apparently #92473-N8210 has been replaced by #92473-N823A
Apparently #92474-N8210 has been replaced by #92474-N823A

I want to have new/correct O-rings on site before I start taking apart, really don't want to replace the drier too so no good to then order.

I'll try to check the sizes I have in that Santech MT2571 kit and other HNBR O-rings I have already, not super sure I can read difference between a 2.00mm O-ring and a 2.43mm one.

OK, thanks for confirming that the line is the same as I already have (and cut down to size in 2017). I'll concentrate on finding and using the Nissan-correct specification O-ring sizes.

I went online, and if I have to order correct Nissan-size O-rings, will cost me about $50 shipped for three of #92472-N823A and one of #92474-N823A. Almost $9 each plus about $15 shipping !!!

I haven't yet called local Nissan dealers' parts department, but expect each will be about $12 (MSRP) but no shipping, so not much difference !!!!

Why can't manufacturers use commonly-available hardware like O-rings???? I know: $$$$

Not fun for me either. Customers want me to spend an hour searching for a .20 cent o-ring. Then they go and Google shop. It's like your time and effort are worth nothing.

OK, I returned to Phoenix today, put a new battery into my electronic Harbor Freight micrometer, and pulled out all the refrigeration O-rings I have. It looks like I had saved old black refrigeration O-rings as well. I could differentiate between 2mm and 2.43mm O-rings with no issues. 3/32" width O-rings are 2.38mm, so super close to 2.43mm.

1. My Harbor Freight Storehouse HNBR assortment (#67644) has six different O-rings of 3/32" width.

2. The Santech MT5271 HNBR assortment (details fits Nissans) does have some 2.43mm (or real close) width O-rings; apparently I used some from this bag years ago.

3. I also have a pack of Quest 470 HNBR O-rings (company apparently now defunct) also has some O-rings of about 2.4mm width.

That said, I'm not going to purchase any "genuine Nissan" refrigeration O-rings. So I expect to install new O-rings on both ends of the 1998's high pressure line within the next 6 weeks. After that I'll decide whether the two O-rings at the 2004's compressor need replacing, or whether a yearly touch-up with R134a makes more sense.
