I am re-installing AC on a 1985 S10 Blazer (the small one) that has had a 1985 350 dropped in. I have the condenser and evaporator, all the hoses (now too short).
The motor and accessories is from a 1985 Chevy pickup, has a single v belt R4 compressor located directly ahead of the drivers side valve cover using factory brackets and pulleys.
Questions are;
Even though I can easily use a rebuilt R4 compressor, would there be any advantage to swap a Sanden compressor?
Which Sanden compressor? Kinda tight on space. Would like to keep the OEM condenser, Orifice tube, accumulator, etc.
Is there any kind of adapter bracket I could use for this Sanden conversion?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Cool project, that is something I have wanted to do for almost 20 years and have not yet. But I have a 327 to use. That being said, I like to keep most things stock, so would just leave the R4 if it was working. Bigger question, what refrigerant do you plan on using? If R12, everything else should be fine. If going with R134, I would upgrade the condenser. Please, replace the accumulator and orfice tube while it is apart, they are fairly cheap and will save you in the long run. Tim, the site sponser may be able to get you a conversation kit if you decide to go that way, or I just did a google search and found several conversation kits. Either way, have fun with your project.
I bought a can of freon at supermart. It had dye, oil, and stop leak in it. It also came with a hose and a gauge. Now I'm an ac professional!!!
