2003 Ford Excursion cool not cold

LP 55.5, HP 255 on a 95 deg ambient temp day best I can get on vent temps today is 57 deg.

The high-side pressure seems pretty good, but the low side is elevated, as is the (center front??) vent temperature. I'm presuming that you recorded these pressures with both the front and rear A/C turned on.

I disconnected the fan clutch and blocked the condenser....... 290 psi was highest HP I could get

Given the test situation that you set up, and at that ambient, I would expect the high-side pressure to rise into the mid-300's, if not to the threshold of the HPCO. So the compressor might indeed be somewhat anemic. But I think you said earlier that the compressor was new. Rather unusual that a new compressor is weak unless defective in some way from the factory. On the other hand, metal flakes on the OT screen—for a second time—suggest that the compressor might be slowly breaking down internally.

Hey bro, just wanted to chime in. I have a 2000 f350 crew cab I've been constantly having to replace parts on the A/C. DO NOT GET A COMPRESSOR FROM THE PARTS STORE. THEY ARE ALL JUNK; IF YOU GET A GOOD ONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS NEW/"REMANUFACTURED", YOU'RE LUCKY IF IT EVEN LASTS THE WARRANTY!!

I am in Texas also. I fixed my A/C hopefully for the last time for awhile last summer.

Some useful words of advice:

I'm hoping you got the oil with UV dye in it. Stuff comes in very handy. Check all the hoses for leaks. Check the welds on your evaporator (mine were leaking and I didn't realize until i took it out; it was only a few months old!)

Check every connection, check the crimps on your hoses with a UV light. Check all the fittings.

BUY A BRAND NEW, VALEO BRAND COMPRESSOR. This is OEM replacement. Haven't had to open up my system since I got it last year!

At one point, one of the (MOTORCRAFT - made in China...) accumulators had a leak in the threaded portion where the stud goes and holds the suction line to the compressor.

Drove me crazy but so far it's been a whole year without any issues since I did all this.

OH yea, be sure and vacuum residual air from your manifold hoses whenever you charge. You can do this by adding an extra valve to the yellow hose, so you're not picking up all the residual air/moisture inside them when you crack open a can.

Valeo would be the preferred compressor in most cases where available. Most people don't care about quality; they shop on eBay or Amazon and look for the cheapest option. Then, they end up complaining about why the product fails. I'm finding it hard to justify spending time on the phone with people because most of them use the information you provide to shop around on Google. They never pay for your information. When you mention that you need to research a topic and will need to charge for that service, they usually hang up, often with a few choice words upon hanging up.

About 90% of the items are imported, generally not specific to this vehicle, so having someone who can filter out the best option is valuable.
