If it is a scan, why post it on our forum? Plus, we don't allow outside links like the one you posted.

Yes, that link to a "business" had all the earmarks of a scam designed to cheat potential buyers out of their money while receiving nothing in return, especially the pictured product, which couldn't possibly be sold for that low of a price.

Therefore, the Site Administrator removed the link, which isn't allowed on this Forum anyway. See "Forum Rules," Item #8.

The Latin phrase "caveat emptor" immediately came to my mind.

Not a scam. You can thank the EPA which has mandated a 60% or higher reduction in the manufacture, thus a reduction in availability, which always drives up price. Not sure under what authority that was done. This site warned about this when this first began happening, we were advising posters to stock up

tbirdtbird, you probably didn't see the actual link, and didn't go to the site itself, because the Site Administrator of this Forum promptly deleted it. The suspected site promoted a national, well-known brand of R-134a, complete with an apparently pirated photo of the 30-pound cylinder and packaging, for only ~$50.

Not really. It was just a post for $50.00 for 30 lbs of refrigerant. I deleted the link because it violated the posting rules. It was probably a scam post or a fake R134a product. Either of which we don't need to promote.

I'm curious about the center vent temperatures you're seeing and at what ambient temperatures.

If you do decide to recharge it yourself in the Fall, you can have the system recovered by your friends up the street, and then proceed to evacuate and recharge it yourself. There will be no need to open the system again to replace the R/D.

If you're still searching for a legitimate refrigerant supplier and real current market prices, look for an established company that carries Freon™ 134a produced by a well-known USA-based manufacturer.

john, i haven't bothered to measure the temp, i know it's not very cool but my wife hasn't complained and that's all that really matters. i'm here in the florida panhandle and daily temps are in the mid 90's and the humidity is usually in the 90's as well. that is when it's not actually raining. it's just too miserable to spend any time outside trying to charge it again. when it's cooler i'll proceed as you've outlined. i now realize it's just to expensive to use anything other than the small 12oz cans. i'll just have to be careful not to introduce air into the system with each new can. thanks again for your time and advice, frank
