Re: Insulate low side hose?
I've wondered about OP's question myself. You gentlemen are referring to the one very cold metal line, correct? I've always wondered why car makers don't insulate that line, they do it on residential AC systems. So.. should I be insulating the one in my car?

If the line or hose is cold, then yes, insulate

What's weird is I posed that same question about a year ago on car forum and the consensus was not to insulate it. that the factory had a good reason to leave it unprotected. What that reason could be I cannot imagine. Seems like insulating it would help it cool better. Maybe worried about the line freezing?
I would love to hear others in this fine community give their thoughts on this as well.

You already have the definitive answer from the pros on this board, which far out way the amateur answers on other boards. Tim (board owner) has assembled some of the sharpest consultants in existence. A couple have worked in industry in Detroit, one helped invent the rotary compressor, then known as Santec, others are independent fabricators for big jobs such as military, trailer trucks, and the like, others are highly qualified MACS certified consultants. Time to give it a rest
