06 Toyota Tacoma no cooling

Post by Rbulka01 »

Recently purchased truck no cooling, compressor engages
tried adding some freon approx 4oz, compressor seized clutch squealed
Had a friend recover freon, very little in system.
Pulled a vacuum on system held well
tried adding freon with 1oz oil, got about 6-8oz in, ambient temp 85F low side 25psi high about 120psi
just starting to cool, then compressor lockup/clutch squeal
I would like to change the compressor, should I change the expansion valve as well?
Any advice would be appreciated

Wait for an AC pro to reply.

If mine, I'd likely go with a brand-new compressor (not a rebuilt), a new condenser, and new drier, and backflush the lines from drier back to compressor with AC solvent/flush.

I also agree. If comp has seized, it is toast and has undoubtedly sent some schrapnel downstream to partially clog the condenser.
Tim, the site owner, has very good quality parts (comps, etc) at very good prices. I get all my stuff from him and it is here in 2 days. Do yourself a favor and at least get a price from him. If you cannot find what you want, then email him.

Avoid a reman comp, they are junk. There are also many new comps out there that are knockoffs and are junk, so beware. 4-squeezins (a nick name for a supplier) has parts I would not use if they were free.
