2013 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab intermittent AC at idle and constant highway speed

Post by ACHelpNeeded »

2013 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab intermittent AC at idle and constant highway speed - if at idle for 5-10 minutes (e.g. eating lunch in a parking lot) the AC intermittently blows warm after a few minutes of idle but cools fine when driving again. Also have seen a similar intermittent issue with long drives at highway speed when at a constant speed - slowing down/speeding up seems to get the AC cooling again. I just replaced the evaporator thermistor and the problem remains. Any thoughts?

I'd want to check the clutch gap. It should not be greater than .020.

Do a search on this site for 'clutch gap'
It is a matter of removing one or more shims

Go here:
search.php?keywords=%22clutch+gap%22
This search also brought up the gap between the condenser and the radiator, you can ignore those posts

And please remember that performance at idle will never equal that at speed

With my limited understanding it seems the clutch gap would be more random or am I misunderstanding?

Likely completely different, but on my 1998 Frontier I removed an AC clutch shim to restore its intermittent operation, like 3 years ago. I didn't even need to remove the AC belt on my 1998 to do this !!! See posts starting with #72 here https://www.clubfrontier.org/threads/19 ... 905/page-4
