Have installed dozens of modern ac systems in many vintage cars as well as modern cars. Very busy/knowledgeable shop.
Our vintage installs are 508s with modern under dash evap. and the largest condensers that will fit. TXV. Never problems.
THIS CASE: '59 Cadillac: same as above but fitted with the A6 repop (no name aluminum chinesium), but they blow out their reed valves in 200 miles. They are not grenading . Getting tired of this, getting ready to fit a 508.
Hi side never more than 200, lo usually 15-20
Tim, are you seeing issues with these aluminum A6 repops? I think they mechanically defective out of the box
Thanks,
Dave

One of my suppliers happened to be on FB. She stated they do not have these issues or are not aware of them. She has been in the business as long if not longer than I have. They have these built to their spec at their china plant.

Re: Tim/anyone A6 repops blow their reed valves
Tim, that is a very different looking compressor from what has been sold several times to me. The Dallas AC wholesaler and all the auto parts stores around here have the same thing, a very generic looking aluminum body rig with no manufacturer marks at all. The front end looks very different.
I am interested to give it a try.
Do you stock this compressor?
Is it compatible with a TXV?
I'd be looking for natural.

Re: Tim/anyone A6 repops blow their reed valves
I find out this morning. Not to say we never have an issue. I only use the best suppliers in the industry.
Probably will need some more info for the correct model.
Application.
Clutch size and the number of grooves?
With or without pressure switch?

A second supplier of mine claims no reed valve issues on their import A6 compressors. Not sure where you are getting them. But I feel safe selling from both of my listed vendors.
