New compressor hard to turn by hand

Post by brielly »

As the title states. I just got a new compressor for my 2001 cherokee but it's pretty much impossible to turn by hand. it does turn smoothly with a socket. My old one easily turns by hand. Is this normal or should I send this one back? Thanks in advance.

What if I say no it's not good?

What if I say it is Normal?

Is it new or rebuilt?

I would contact the supplier. Using the information on the web without discussing it with the supplier. It only causes headaches trying to explain why what was read is not always true.

In general, one would want a fairly tight compressor. Easy to turn compressor, usually means it will not pump well. As piston rings are not sealing well. Different model compressors have more or less resistance based on design.

I would not be overly concerned. But would contact the source and ask them.

Next time buy from Tim at Arizona Mobile Air !!!

I've bought at least three compressors and an evaporator from Arizona Mobile Air for various vehicles over the past 2.5 decades. And I bought a vacuum pump from them for my work laboratory.

While I agree, LOL.

With concerns like this. It's always the best "IMO" to ask your supplier. They know what was sold and if there have been any issues.

I see these types of questions a lot, here, phone or in emails.

What I'm trying to convey. Is if I say the compressor is bad. Because I had issues with a tight compressor. Which I personally bought off eBay or discount house. It could reflect in my response.

Have no issues with the question. But it's important to rely on your vendor
