Ac cold at idle, gets warm
Hello, I have searched you tube and posts here with no luck. I have a 2001 Ford F-250, when I start it up after work and sit there for 15 minutes +/-, it is ice cold (40*F) and frosts up the windows. Then when I start driving it will go to around 60*F sometimes even 70*F. Usually if I am stopped it gets cold again. Any ideas as to what the problem could be. Most issues I find after searching is warm at idle. Thank you.
Re: Ac cold at idle, gets warm
Did you recover and recharge to factory specs? Sounds like a refrigerant charge problem.
Re: Ac cold at idle, gets warm
Fords had that problem of either low charge or bad cycling switches. What happens (low charge) is the refrigerant system will quick cycle when going down the highway. At idle the temps will be fine. The first thing to do when you have most AC problems is to verify the correct charge.. and thus eliminate that as a problem. Fords also had cycling switch problem back then also. (#2 thing to check)
