Insulate Liquid Line ?

Post by marconew »

78 corvette CCOT! R4 compressor, R12 freon, parallel flow condenser.

Would it help to insulate the liquid line from condenser up to orifice tube?
Also new system is being installed manual says add all 6 oz of mineral oil to compressor, is that the best way?

Not the way I understand the thermodynamics. I'd option it would be better to insulate from the orifice tube to the evaporator.

I'd do that, and also add a little UV dye in with the 6 oz. mineral oil. Then once bolted up, I'd rotate the compressor drive plate through like 10 full revolutions with a wrench.

The refrigeration oil will circulate throughout the system anyway.
