Low Pressure Switch
New to forum and trying to get my 2002 Chevy Silverado AC working. Is it necessary to evacuate the system to replace the low pressure switch?
Re: Low Pressure Switch
No, if you speaking of the switch on the accumulator.

Re: Low Pressure Switch
I'm curious as to why you think the LP switch is bad. Are there any other components that you suspect might be leaking and/or defective as well? If so, and if the system hasn't been serviced in years, I'd go ahead and recover the charge, or have it done, then repair and replace whatever is necessary.

About half of the time I have to jump it out to get the clutch to kick in and that is on a fresh charge. Have checked the connector and wiring and it all looks good.

Re: Low Pressure Switch
Have you also checked the clutch gap with a feeler gauge? If it's wider than 0.020", the clutch might not engage, especially an older unit when it heats up.
