1992 Buick Roadmaster, R12 to R134a

Post by bgoins12 »

Hi guys, I am in the process of redoing the AC system on my 92 Buick Roadmaster. I pretty much bought everything I needed (new updated scroll compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, seals, etc.), but I didn't realize until after getting my stuff that there are different colored AC switches...for both the compressor mounted one and the one on the accumulator.

Since I am converting from R12 to R134a, I have no clue as to which colors I need. At the moment, the new ones I bought are a GPD 1711334 (blue) compressor switch, and a GPD 1711250 accumulator mounted clutch switch (white hex end, black plug end). The 1711250 says "R12" on it, so I assume it won't work with the 134a conversion.

The old switches are yellow on the accumulator and gray or white on the compressor.

Any help is appreciated!

So after a bit of research this morning, I discovered that the difference between all the compressor mounted switches mainly relies on where the keyed slot/tab is clocked on the switch/plug. Somehow I managed to order the correct switch for the compressor, but I am still not sure on the accumulator mounted one.
