I also have a 2000 Frontier and it has never been touched, it'll freeze you out within minutes of turning it on. I did notice the Frontier has a condenser mounted fan whilst the Xterra does not. I will ask him to check it out before doing anything else. I just find it odd that it would sometimes show normal pressures, then out of nowhere go way high on the high side, and then if you turn it off for a bit, it'll work normally again.
