Schraeder valve replacement

My system is empty at the moment and I'd like to replace the R134a Schraeder valves as a precaution. I see a bunch of sets on Amazon, but would happily order elsewhere or even better at my local NAPA if someone has a recommendation on what to buy.

Re: adding dye for top-up?

Thank you all! I am assuming the hoses need to be connected before I rotate the compressor to distribute the oil (it has caps on the outlets at the moment).

Re: help interpreting pressure readings

Ya know, for some reason, I am just now seeing this question and pic.
Of course, an AC line being close to exhaust equipment will most assuredly increase the hi side pressure. Or low side pressure.
INSULATE now. We would usually use fiberglass based exhaust wrap, it comes in rolls….have at it ...

adding dye for top-up?

I have a DIY new system with about a 1000 miles on it. It works, thanks to help here but I'm refining it this winter by rotating the compressor 90 degrees to get hoses away from the exhaust manifold. It's a Sanden compressor with the "V" fittings.

I had the system evacuated at a shop ($56... very ...

Yes the machine will tell how much was pulled out.
You will not need to add any oil.
Yes, whenever the system is opened the R/D should be replaced.
Try to find a MACS certified shop, they are better trained.
THANK YOU!

price to recover R134a and related questions

If I take my car to a shop with one of those fancy Sun machines for AC service, how much should I expect to pay to have the R134a recovered?

Will the machine be able to tell how much got pulled out?

When I recharge the system, will I have to add any oil?

I am planning to do some hose alterations ...

Re: help interpreting pressure readings

275 hi at 92F is overcharged.
Your vent temp is not where you want because of too small a condenser, as we have mentioned.
Not sure why you think you have a leak.
I have stated many times, bite the bullet and get a sniffer, they are so quick and easy to detect leaks, and I think more accurate ...

how much leakage from a Schrader valve is too much

I bought a Harbor Freight sniffer. On its default setting, it goes from 'beep beep beep' to 'siren' when I check the service ports. These fittings are new. Is this a common problem? With the plastic cap on, I don't get an indication of a leak on the default setting, but when I take the caps off, I ...

Re: help interpreting pressure readings

Agree with Cusser.
You were trying to find oil leaks? Please know that the dye for oil leaks is NOT the same as dye for Freon leaks, just for the record.
We had a poster here 2 yrs ago who used the oil type for his AC and basically ruined his entire system

When I bought the kit 20 years ago, it ...
