Re: Does air get in system when using AC manifold gauges?
Thanks for the feedback, but I guess I wasn't clear. I already charged up my system. I did it completely by weight, liquid, on the high-side with the engine off. I didn't even hook up the low side at all. My question was about just hooking up gauges in general, on a working system (not on an empty o...

Does air get in system when using AC manifold gauges?
Like the thread title says, do you have to worry about introducing air into the system when connecting the AC manifold gauges in order to check pressures? I realize that the AC system is under high pressure, and even the low side will be way higher than atmospheric pressure, so I would imagine that ...

refilling a large r134a self-sealing can?
ok, i know this is going to sound crazy, and I'll probably get scolded for it, but I'll ask anyway... A friend of mine gave me a large 35oz (1kg) can of r134a that he had left over from when he did his AC. I'm not sure where he got it (it's autozone 'shop pros' brand). It's a self-sealing can that's...

When charging by weight, fill to max?
The R134a label on my truck ('98 tacoma) has a 'min' and 'max' value for charge weight: min: 550g (1.21 lbs) max: 650g (1.43 lbs) - so, the mid-point would be 600g (1.32 lbs). When charging by weight, which value should I try to aim for? min, max, or the midpoint value? Will the amount of refrigeran...

Re: 270 microns good enough?
Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, most of what I've read & seen mentions 500 microns as being the 'standard,' but I've also seen a bunch of videos of guys being able to pull down to below 100 microns, so I started to have some doubts if I was actually going low enough at 270 microns. Another que...

270 microns good enough?
Hi all, I'm new here. I'm trying to pump down the system on a 98 tacoma. I've got a cps micron gauge, and I'm using the autozone loaner manifold gauges & vacuum pump. I've checked all of my fittings, replaced the oil in the pump, but ~270 is pretty much the lowest I'm able to consistently go. It...
