I don't do a lot of work any more, but still help a few people. A member of the local Mustang Club was going crazy with a leak in a very stock 1995 Mustang.
He is a good mechanic, but not much experience on refrigeration. He had replaced the condenser because of a rock hit that caused a leak. Car ...

Re: How well does a modern car's AC system work in a place like Death Valley?
Lot of assumptions there Chris.
My intake picks up air from the same place the condenser gets it - in front of the core support. The mainly plastic intake tract heat soaks a small amount.

Re: How well does a modern car's AC system work in a place like Death Valley?
The difference between the temperature in Death Valley and Laughlin NV is usually about 3 degrees F. In the southwest from Las Vegas to Phoenix we see very high temperatures during summer. And some vehicle systems struggle more than others.

Re: Lamborghini Aventador strange pressure readings
Recover the system. Probably low on charge. Remove the expansion device, and see if the tractor factory left any junk in the system when they assembled it.
Those cars are rarely high mileage vehicles. Leaks over time while sitting are more common. Unless you bought the car from Ed Bolian...

55f discharge air with 90f ambient is pumping heat away. Once the cabin temp drops 10 degrees, so does the evaporator inlet temperature...

The 1/4 male flare on that regulator should mate with an R12 charging hose.
Two things to remember about using CO2 for leak checking:
It is a refrigerant gas. So while you can pressurize the system to 150 psi and check for leaks with soapy fluid, a leakdown test will be affected by temperature ...

Re: dye charge for finding leaks
Dye charge cans have been around a long time. Not a problem. As long as they have only Dye
Generally they are smaller, and contain a couple of ounces of refrigerant to move the dye, along with some oil that suspends the dye
The product you mentioned has 2 ounces of refrigerant, and 2 ounces of POE ...

Re: Class A AC woes - bad expansion valve??
Your latest test @1800 rpm showed 14psi low and 210 high side. 95f ambient, and a vent of 60f With 40% humidity
So if we look at the chart provided by Evans
At 90f intake the average temperature drop across the evaporator is 30f . You are getting 35f right now
At 90f ambient the low and high side ...

I can answer part of that question for you. The F53 in that model year has the 6.8L V10 engine mounted conventionally with a viscous drive fan clutch. Truck chassis.
The fan is 19.6" diameter with 8 huge blades. When the clutch is working I can hear one for blocks. That kind of torque load ...
