Re: 1999 Tahoe Low Side Cutting
Thanks yeah I completely agree thats what it seems like. I swapped it with 2 other gm ones and no change. Ive landed on something is allowing the pressure to drop even though the front system is not fully cold. Thats where i was wondering if anyone has experience with the rear txv hanging open some....

Re: 1999 Tahoe Low Side Cutting
Cabin air filter been changed? Airflow over condenser reduced? Due to old fluid drive coupling on mechanical fan? All the electric fans on as soon as the comp is switched on? Run a garden hose over the condenser and report what that does to your vent temps Suction line sweating? You seem to have a ...

Re: 1999 Tahoe Low Side Cutting
Yeah I've seen those 4lb specs as well. I can tell you even getting to 3lbs and performance starts suffering quite a bit (especially at idle). I don't know where some of those companies got that from. When I called my local dealership they shared it usually lands between 2.75 and 3lbs depending on w...

1999 Tahoe Low Side Cutting
So I have a 99 Tahoe with C69 front and rear air. I've owned a few of these trucks and never fought the ac like this one. I'm running the 2.75lb charge as called out in my GM manual (I've also tried other volumes but this does seem to be the best with the newer replacement GM condensers) What's happ...

Re: 71 Chevrolet C/10-Pressures good / air only cool?
Just wanted to update this post. Turned out to be my Heater Control Valve was leaking water by it. I have a vacuum valve that is setup properly but I must have a small vacuum leak as it is not pulling it shut all the way. I added a couple zip ties and manually shut off the water. Now the air is perf...

Re: 71 Chevrolet C/10-Pressures good / air only cool?
It's possible your TXV is not exactly the same as the Chevelle. Disconnect the blower motor and note the PSi on the POA. Do the same for the Chevelle. Is the condenser the same size on both vehicles? Are you using the same compressor? What about air flow across the condenser? Did you try misting th...

Re: 71 Chevrolet C/10-Pressures good / air only cool?
These are all great things to keep in mind. Thank you. I have installed all new ducting and gone in and insulate/taped up any leaks in the air box. You're right, maybe I'm comparing this system to my newer systems, however my 70 chevelle has the same basic system and is blowing around 39-40 on R-12 ...

Re: 71 Chevrolet C/10-Pressures good / air only cool?
Condenser is nice and clean. You're seeing the iphone get confused and go out of focus on the fins. I will double check the drier. My Dad installed that so I cannot confirm the direction is correct. Thank you for the insights! I haven't been with the truck all weekend but will be tonight so I can ch...

Re: 71 Chevrolet C/10-Pressures good / air only cool?
Okay thanks for the tips. I will try to get the new readings this weekend. I'm also not sure the heater control valve was shutting off all the way. I was under there after driving home from work, left it running as I got out and grabbed the heater hoses and noticed that they were fairly hot. Not as ...
