Re: wont hold vacum but will hold pressure
hi First look for obvious damage eg hose rub thru . Twist hose ferrules if they twist replace Look for oil stains on all a/c parts Has the system have leak dye might see compressor seal vacuum fluctuation reading on a micron gauge when clutch is rotated . or charge with a trace of refrigerant and to...

Re: Receiver Filter Drier selection questions
hi R/drier will be ok a larger unit won`t hurt Remember the system = 2.6 ton Try and match compressor ,,evaporator txv from a known combo ,,Saves the guess work from having mismatched components engine drive pulley diameter can be varied a little Condenser size bigger the better . Remember to fit 2x...

hi Besides being low on refrigerant . Does your vehicle make/model have a cabin filter ?? If dirty change it out ,, if not the evaporator core will most likely be covered in debris . Any vehicle can have a dirty evap core as early as 60,000 miles . Some times it might be needed to drill a hole and u...

Re: Testing Micron gauges
hi Early in the am probably tired . Experience with your own micron gauge goes along way . Once u have seen how the gauge responds to leaks of various causes eg r134a coupler or manifold o rings etc . First thing i do if gauge is not performing is to alcohol clean and retest . Once you become famili...

Re: Where is a micron gauge placed when vacuuming system?
hi Always be observant when using vac pump . Look for fluctuations when operating taps .Also compare this to a new 1/4 hose with a micron gauge . If the readings are different the gauge set has a leak most likely . Vac both situations overnight to eliminate moisture as much as possible. If the micro...
