Re: Help me diagnose my AC
20 Oz looks like the correct amount for that vehicle so shouldn't be overcharged. What symptoms did you have prior to replacing those 2 things? What temp you getting at the vents? Are your fans coming on correctly? 300 high side sounds too high for 80 degree ambient temp.

Re: Weak Compressors, or bad orifice tube?
You can not get an accurate temp using an infared thermometer due to emissary problems. Depending upon the reflectance of the metal the reading will vary. That is the reason why it is suggested to "shoot" an area that is black. If you shoot an area that is shinny, both in and out of the a...

Re: Weak Compressors, or bad orifice tube?
One thing I'll add as I just went through something very similar (you can check my thread) is that even though the line may feel really cold it's hard to really gauge by feel if it's cold enough. I thought mine was ice cold but it was really only 70 degrees. It was just so hot outside and in my gara...

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling *SOLVED*
Awesome thx for the additional info! Probably won't have this car too much longer so not sure the extent I wanna continue to mess with this. For now I'm happy just having some cool air again.

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling
Definitely not getting any colder with a cold engine so don't think it is an issue with the blend door. AI9, when you say reheating is your problem what does that mean exactly?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling
Ok checked the air mix door actuator under the dash. I can see when I move the slider from hot to cold it is turning and opening and closing the air mix door properly and all the way. So doesn't appear hot air from the heater core is getting mixed in.

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling
Interesting, ok so these pressure seem pretty good at this point? I'll have to see how I'll be able to check any flaps/doors to see if warm air is missing in with the cold air. Would that mixture of hot and cold air explain the musty smell?

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling
Thank you AI9 for the additional info! Just an update after performing pressure tests again. Testing in garage but outside temps were about 113 At IDLE (800 RPM) Low Side: 50-55 High: 220 Vent Temp: 70 At 2000 RPM Low Side: 60 High: 225 Vent temp: 70 One thing I would like to point out is the low si...

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling
Thx robmaxfli and Cusser. I'll give those things a try. I'm in the east valley (Mesa), I appreciate the shop recommendations. Hoping to fix this myself though (not urgent as working from home so don't really need to use it much). Hoping there is a way to pinpoint the cause. The compressor is brand n...
