It's not the type of gas, but the pressure that matters. A compression is not as strong as a flare fitting for everything I have ever seen. That's a good point. The gauge did get to 30 vacuum pretty quick so maybe it was just the hose getting vacuumed. How long does it normally take for the psi to drop? More than 10 seconds?
