Re: "sticky" shraeder valves at hi/lo port
Thanks for responding, its good to know someone had a similar problem. It also occured to me that the low side experiences suction which acts against the valve. I realize most small parts like this are made in china these days, maybe by one company. What would "pros" use? Are there differe...

"sticky" shraeder valves at hi/lo port
I replaced the valve cores in my R134a adapters using these parts https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WM9GTT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've used those same cores on other projects with success. Today I pulled the manifold quick connects off the high side with the engine o...

Setup for pressure testing condenser (3/4 + 5/8 ports)
In the past I have rigged various fittings to pressure test components like this oil cooler. I usually submerge it in water to look for bubbles and check that pressure holds. I'm sure there is a common way of doing this for a condenser. Before I go science project on it, does anyone have a good off ...

Re: Damaged R12 shraeder valve when installing R134a adapter
Haha true.
The manufacturer of the adapter confirmed they accidentally sent the wrong install instructions. The old Shraeder must come out. I can't entirely see into the port but i think the stem cracked the threaded portion somewhat.

Damaged R12 shraeder valve when installing R134a adapter
I have installed a few sets of R134a adapters over the years without issue. I went out of my way to get a quality set for my '91 Porsche and asked the mfgr to confirm the existing shraerder on the R12 is supposed to remain in place. They said yes. As precaution I replaced the R12 fitting shraeders b...

Re: Does a home vacuum pump extract oil along with refridgerant?
Thank you all for the responses. I looked online but can not tell what a 609 Certificate is or where I should be shopping for R12? I do not have an a priori need to convert to R134a, I just do not want to be hard pressed to find R12 and in my experience working on old cars, fixing the AC can involve...

Does a home vacuum pump extract oil along with refridgerant?
I am trying to follow the factory procedure for converting my 91 Porsche from R12 to R134a. I have removed the compressor and drained all the oil I can from the ports (there is no drain plug). I have a home vacuum pump and manifold set from harbor freight. They both work well but do not separate ref...

On TXV systems does compressor cycle ? Intended function of high pressure switch
I have a 1989 BMW 325i with an expansion valve as attached. On such a system does one expect the compressor to cycle on and off via the high pressure switch on the receiver/dryer, or does the expansion valve control the flow of refrigerant and therefore how hard the compressor is working?

It spins just fine, it cools, it just leaks. What do they charge?

It was the best I could find, to replace the Nipponenso 10p.
