Re: R134a oil
Sorry I apparently was not real clear. I did replace the accumulator but when I disconnected the inlet hose on the evaporator it ran a puddle of bright green oil on the garage floor. The green oil makes me wonder what was in the system, if it was 134 I don't need to be real careful about cleaning ou...

R134a oil
I am ressurrecting an 89 Bronco II for my granddaughter. I am at the A/C now and am going for the R134a changeover. I changed the accumulator and the oil that ran out is bright green. I do not believe that this is mineral refrigeration oil. What are the odds that it already had R134a even though it ...

r12 replacement
I am sure this information is in here somewhere but I did not find it. I am trying to resurrect an 89 Bronco for my granddaughter. This car only has 89000 on the clock because the previous owner blew the transmission and parked it in the desert. I have gone through the brake system, fuel system, ove...

Re: blowing hot from the side vents
Thought that I would post the findings. In the absence of any useful information on the system operation I wound up taking the whole thing apart to figure out how it worked. My ancestry comes out of southern Germany on both sides so I believe that gives me the right to cuss the Krauts. Essentially I...

blowing hot from the side vents
I gave my '94 SL 500 to my granddaughter as a throw away first car. Didn't pay enough attention to the hoses and she blew the heater hose hidden behind the engine. Needless too say she barbecued it. I found an acceptable used engine and installed it. It takes a lot of digging around to replace the h...

Re: Old Chrysler A/C
However the EPR works I am impressed. This thing is spitting out air temp in the 30's with ambient temps in the 80's Don't know what it will do when we hit triple digits but what I remember about the average system of the time this one seems to be among the best. Probably a mute point now as it is w...

Re: Old Chrysler A/C
A friend of a friend managed to come up with a wiring diagram for a 66 Dodge. It was close enough that I managed to find the wire on the firewall side of the bulkhead plug. Once found it was relatively easy to trace and fix. The diagram shows the clutch wire going directly from the control to the cl...

Re: An inquiry about A/C compressors failure
It has been common practice for years in residential and commercial installations to install a filter just outside the compressor assembly on the high pressure line. I can only guess that the reason it never caught on in automotive is that there is no gain.

Re: Old Chrysler A/C
Just re-read my last rant and a huge apology is in order. First it was not directed at anyone on this forum. Sometime around the 17th I went to bed feeling lousy and the next morning woke up with a temp of 102+ had that for 3 days and for obvious reasons no one would come near me. Dr finally sent me...

Re: Old Chrysler A/C
I started out trying to do a favor for a friend and the more information I get the more it seems that I have stepped into a pit of quicksand. Here is where I am presently at. I have opened up all the connections to replace the 55 year old o rings. While open I did a simple flush on the evaporator an...
