Re: AC Recovery Machine
Yes, the small portable units. There is Vevor (and many similar Chinese brands), the Appion G5Twin and a smaller one by them. I have looked at used RRR machines and some are pretty affordable but I don't know enough to be able to determine if it's operational, etc., and if it would have all the ...

Re: AC Recovery Machine
After working on my AC systems and running gauges and all that for several years I am at a point where I'd like to be able to do my own recovery and I wondered if anyone had recommendations for a hobby-plus level machine. I am not in a particular hurry to get an evac done so it seems like one of ...

Re: Vevor Single Cylinder Refrigerant Recovery Machine
Hello, I am looking into Vevor's refrigerant recovery machine (single cylinder type) and would like to ask if this machine is effective enough, should I choose the double cylinder type, how is the performance and durability when used with gas such as R134A or R410A, and if anyone has used it ...

Re: Service hose and connector questions
I'll try answering your questions, but it depends on whether you're talking 1/4" R-12 hose seals and Schrader valve actuators (core depressors), ACME R-134a seals, or R-1234yf seals.
The hoses having core depressors on one end for 1/4" R-12 fittings attach onto the service port (vehicle) side, not ...

Re: 1986 Corvette AC Service…was it not done correctly?
A vacuum of 310 microns is excellent , as are the vent temperatures, especially for a Corvette.
Based on the original factory specs that I have, the system called for 52 ounces net weight of R-12. A charge of 36 ounces of R-134a seems a little "light" to me.
Keep an eye on it. If the evaporator ...

Re: high side pressure is even with low side.
It does sound like the compressor isn't compressing. It could also be that you just don't have enough refrigerant in the system.
That said, kindly post your vehicle's make, model, and year as well. Those will help in diagnosing this further. What I'm essentially trying to get at is whether your ...

Re: How to fully empty refrigerant tank during recharging AC
I'll hazard an explanation with the following presumptions: Recovery of the entire contents (refrigerant only) of a system into the vacuum of a recovery cylinder, and then attempting to recharge the same system with the same refrigerant contained in the recovery cylinder.
The low side of the ...

Re: 1986 Corvette AC Service…was it not done correctly?
It's been quite a while since I worked on that particular model-year vehicle, but I seem to recall that the compressor and manifold have shallow circular reliefs cut into their respective flanges, into which the seals fit. Then the center bolt is tightened to partially compress the seals to such an ...

Re: 97 Camry intermittent problem
It sometimes takes a week or so for Toyota vehicles to reset the on-board computer (ECU) after repairs are completed and the A/C light to stop blinking. Could be that's what happened with your Camry. Perhaps the recovery, evacuation, and recharge did the trick. Regardless, I'm glad it's working again.

Re: 97 Camry intermittent problem
This car has a fixed-displacement compressor, so the low-side pressure shouldn't go as low as 23 PSI if the system is fully charged, is working correctly, and the ambient temperature is 80°F (~27°C) and above. At that low of a pressure, it's bumping into the recently replaced low-pressure cut-off ...
