30 year old brand new Ford AC compressor hard to turn
I found a brand new Ford OEM never used or mounted AC compressor and it was sealed with the caps for my Ford 5.0 V8. It was full of thick viscous Mineral Oil which I drained. The compressor is little hard to turn which I assume due to the viscous oil. I dont want to do anything and ruin it. Should I...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
. . Ok. Plan B. I am not set on R4 !!! I relocated the Alternator to Drivers side and installed Sanden (for mock-up) way low on Passenger side. This might work. Couple of equations. 1. Which one should I get. V5 or V7 compressor ? 2. There are so many versions of V5 V7, which one should I get? I was...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
While they share lots of the stuff, the Falcon's Engine Bay is smaller than Mustangs. That's why drags link are not interchangeable because Mustangs engine bay is wider but the control arms are the same. The early 1962 Falcons are even tighter. The later Mustang's had even more room blue picture wit...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
My car is not a Foxbody Mustang. It's 1964 Falcon. Engine bay's are not the same. See the picture below. I have about 1/4" clearance between nose of short Explorer Water Pump and Electric Radiator Fan. Foxbody Water Pump is even longer and there is no room and therefore Foxbody Serpentine syste...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
There are probably only a half million Ford small blocks in junkyards with factory installed FS6 compressors with serpentine drives. . I have complete serpentine system from the Explorer and and Mustang (including the compressor) but does not fit the Falcon Engine Bay. The Falcon Engine Bay is acta...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
I may pull an R4 from my local pic-a-part and re-seal it my self. As long as the compressor move freely and hear the compression strokes - suction and exhaust, it should be fine. Correct? Nope - won't know how noisy/rattly it is until it's under load. The greasiest, nastiest, bottom of core barrel ...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
Most vintage Falcon's and Mustang's have the monster York compressor that hides the motor. See pic below. I am trying to be little bit different and make it look little nicer so when you open the hood, you see the nice shiny motor and not the accessories. We have all you can carry day for $50 at our...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
How many times are you going to post a like to the product? Nothing do with weather I like it or not. I don't know too much about AC Compressor. Just trying to find out if anyone has actually use these alternative scroll from professionals since everyone claim that R4 are junk. I found another comp...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
... R4 is the last compressor I'd ever retrofit to something. Pricey the reason why I posted here since all I hear is that R4 is junk. Guys my 1964 Ford Falcon is not a daily driver. Just once or twice a month weekend cruiser. It would be nice to have little bit of AC when it's 90 outside. I have a...
