Re: No Idle Change with A/C On
AC... healed ! The problem with the compressor clutch not activating was the very FIRST item listed in bohica2xo contribution to this thread: 1) Charge level. Not enough refrigerant system pressure will inhibit clutch operation After I brought the charge to mfg's spec--using the correct equipment, ...

Re: No Idle Change with A/C On
I'll recheck the transducer at first opportunity. I'm uncertain of my initial check anyway. If this sensor (and the others) test OK, I'll intuitively suspect the climate control console before the PCM. It'll suck if that thing is flaky. As for the "code reset"... I should have listed doing...

Re: No Idle Change with A/C On
First things first... Thank you. I genuinely appreciate your help. I realize it is frustrating—and mostly futile—lobbing intermittent sans serif advice across this medium at some anonymous ad hoc a/c tech poseur, 'specially when all indications suggest a problem better suited for a laying of the han...

Re: No Idle Change with A/C On
Bleh. I definitely don't like chasing my own tail. Nor do I like firing the parts cannon at a problem. I eliminated the fuses, the engine control and clutch relays, controls, wiring harness, pressure sensor resistance, and clutch gap first. Not only because these items are (relatively) easy to check...

Nope. ...er'm... not yet, I mean. Gotta remain optimistic for the missus, lest she think me incompetant.

Re: No Idle Change with A/C On
Thanks for your response. So after I processed your comment about the tach, I plugged in my scan tool to get a more accurate reading of RPM. Problem is, this tool reports RPM real-time. And since RPM reading fluctuates constantly, as expected, it's pretty much impossible to discern any effect from t...

Re: Stuck Compressor Clutch Plate: Suggestions on Removal
One might infer that a shorted field coil would blow an upstream fuse (two 10A fuses feed both "sides" of the field coil relay). But the fuses and relay test good. I don't get how an field coil can (apparently) "burn" without blowing out something else other than itself--maybe fi...

Re: Stuck Compressor Clutch Plate: Suggestions on Removal
resistance was ...zero.
The old coil was pretty yucky. The epoxy had melted and the resistor was exposed.
btw, the new field coil has a resistance of ~3.7Ω.

Re: Stuck Compressor Clutch Plate: Suggestions on Removal
Oh, no question about it. No shop would have dicked around with these minutiae components. They'd have recommended a new compressor with the commensurate hurty quote without batting an eye.

No Idle Change with A/C On
'06 Hyundai Azera 145k miles While t'shooting a no-cooling problem in this car, I notice the idle does not bump with activation of the A/C; meaning, no movement of the tach. The blower comes on immediately when A/C is switched on, which suggests the climate control module works. I've done the cursor...
