Installed Vintage AC in 55 Thunderbird Insulation ?
I just installed a Vintage AC system designed for my car. I added a 10" electric fan (comes on when compressor turns on) to support the mechanical fan (also upgraded to 6 blade steel fan) These cars run very hot and I want to add some insulation to the floor. Under the seat there is no rug or i...

Insulate low side hose?
I just installed the Vintage Air kit on my 55 Thunderbird. The tech from Vintage Air suggested that I insulate the low side hose (from evaporator to compressor) because there is a lot of heat in the engine compartment. What is the best product to use for this? Should I consider insulating any other ...

Re: Problem tapping cans of R-134A
Had a ground issue. Bracket for compressor and alternator is powder coated Alternator was fine because one of the mounting bolts goes directly into the engine block Compressor needed a jumper to ground. I mounted the compressor so long ago I forgot all about it I couldn’t get the Freon to load….. be...

Re: Problem tapping cans of R-134A
OP, if you have a newer can tap with a flat pin (not sharply pointed) inside, then screw it directly onto the can without the plastic adapter, which isn't needed in this instance. I actually have both the pointed and flat ended taps.................... I used the pointed one with the blue adapter a...

Problem tapping cans of R-134A
I cannot seem to get a tap that will work with the newer cans of R134A. I had the tap with the point (for the older cans), I bought a new tap that has a flat spike................. I also bought an "adapter" (blue plastic screws on the can), I tried both taps with the plastic adapter I can...

PAG100 added to system that called for PAG46
Due to conflicting specs on the internet (and no visible sticker in the engine compartment) I added some PAG100 and later found for m y year Jeep Wrangler, 2001, I should have used PAG46. I replaced the evaporator and accumulator and added 2 ounces to each.
Could this be a problem?

Re: Intermittent cold air
Replaced the switch, compressor now starts and does NOT cycle on/off (at least for the two minutes I observed). Did have time to read pressures again today

Re: Intermittent cold air
I had a shop remove some R134A and now it's cooling all the time. Vent temps were between 42 and 48 outdoor temps were between 75 and 84 yesterday/last night. But the compressor is cycling on and off 3 or 4 times a minute. Is this some thing I should be concerned with? Others with the same wrangler ...

Re: Intermittent cold air
Would overcharging cause these symptoms? I have seen conflicting specs for the R134 (no sticker on the Jeep under the hood nothing in the owners manual either.). I put in 1.5 pounds, but now I see most specs call for 20 OZ. I also used PAG 100 and I see the spec is PAG46, would this cause any issues?

Intermittent cold air
I recently changed the evaporator, accumulator, and orifice (I added 2oz of PAG 100 in the evaporator and accumulator) tube on my 2001 Jeep Wrangler. I vacuumed the system (held vacuum for 45 minutes) and filled it with 1.5 pounds of R134. On the day I filled the system it read 35 low side 225 high ...
